For the privateer in the mid-1970s who wanted to go sports car racing (and, in particular, one who wanted to compete successfully at the famed 24 Hours Le Mans race), there was really only one viable option, the Porsche RSR.

Introduced in 1973, the RSR was a factory-built racing car based on the 911 chassis. These were not converted road cars, rather purpose-built competition models designed and built from the ground up for serious racing use.

In 1974, the factory made significant changes to the car including fitting a new 3.0 litre engine, wider wheels with center lock hubs and improved aerodynamics. The result was a car that would dominate the GT category and challenge for overall wins around the world.


911 Rennsport has “upped the mark” with this model - a rebuild of a 1985 original 930 “Widowmaker,” a 3.3 litre, intercooled turbo. This 930 turbo RSR was originally a dry-use only, Gulf State LHD with a great history, converted into a 1973 Carrera 2.8 RSR specifications, with a fully galvanized body-shell.  


After a full body restoration, it is finished in stunning ivory white, with Rennsport decals and Fuchs 15″alloy wheels (9"front and 10"rear). Brand new lights fitted, front and rear, with chrome surrounds and metal chrome horn grills. Door handles stripped and triple chrome-plated and front and rear screens replaced with the correct polished inserts. To complete the finish, the door frames and window trims are polished to match, along with the correct period, single Durant mirror. The underside of the car is the same condition as the top, being correctly anti-stone-chipped and sprayed in body colour. The interior has been tastefully backdated with the correct ‘salt n pepper’ lightweight Perlon carpet set. Brand new RSR period blue tartan touring seats, period Momo Prototipo steering wheel and correct lightweight RS specification door cards with electric windows retained. Factory fitted air conditioning.

Having a full body restoration, the finish will be the popular Grand Prix white with Mexico blue centred Fuchs alloy wheels (7″ front and 8″ rear). The sunroof has been restored to full working condition and will being fitted with a new roof lining. Brand new lights will be fitted, front and rear, with black surrounds and black horn grills. Door handles will be stripped and triple chrome plated, front and rear screens will have fitted polished inserts. Door frames and window trims will be polished to match with a correct period single Durant mirror. The underside of the car is completely rust free and wax oiled for everyday use. The interior will be tastefully backdated with the correct ‘salt n pepper’ lightweight Perlon Carpet set. Brand new RSR basket weave front seats with matching rears, period Momo Prototipo steering wheel and correct lightweight RS specification door cards with electric windows all retained.

At £125,000, this car is a great way to get yourself into a fabulous looking RS Lightweight Rennsport.
